The Power of a 90-Day Sprint

Let me ask you something… how are those 2025 goals going?

If you’re cringing a little right now, don’t worry. You’re not alone. By this time of year, a lot of us look back at those January vision boards and realize… yeah, we kinda let them collect dust.

Here’s the good news: you don’t need 12 months to make a big shift. You only need 12 weeks.

One of my favorite books, The 12 Week Year by Brian Moran and Michael Lennington, talks about how a full year gives us too much room to procrastinate. They say, “A year is a long time. It’s enough time to get complacent.” And whew, isn’t that the truth?

That’s why I love the idea of a 90-day sprint. Three months. One focus. Small consistent action. It’s the sweet spot between “too long to stay motivated” and “too short to see results.”

And since October kicks off the last quarter of the year, this is the perfect time to try it. Here is how you can try this:

Step 1: Reflect on What You’ve Already Done

Before you set a new goal, celebrate a win.

Seriously. What’s one thing you’ve accomplished this year that makes you proud? Don’t dismiss it because it wasn’t huge. Maybe you spoke up in a meeting, maybe you paid off a small loan, maybe you set a boundary that scared you but protected your peace.

In The 12 Week Year, they remind us that “great execution is about celebrating progress, not waiting until the end.”

Your wins prove that you’re capable. Hold onto that confidence as you look forward.

Step 2: Choose ONE Focus

Here’s where most people mess up: they try to do too much. Ten goals, five projects, all at once.

No, bestie. Not this time.

For your 90-day sprint, pick ONE focus. Ask yourself: If I only accomplished one thing by December 31, what would make me proud?

I had a client who was juggling all the goals...networking, budgeting, working out, updating her resume. She wasn’t moving on any of them. Once she picked just one (paying off her credit card), everything shifted.

Step 3: Break It Into Weekly and Daily Actions

This is where the magic happens.

That same client wanted to pay off her card before the new year. When we broke it down, she needed to pay $200 a week. At first, it felt overwhelming. But once she created a weekly plan, meal prepping on Sundays, cutting unused subscriptions, and doing a midweek budget check, it became doable.

Her daily actions looked simple: prepare lunch, transfer money on payday, and track spending for five minutes. By the end of 12 weeks, the card was gone. $2,000!!!!

The 12 Week Year says, “You don’t need more time, you need more focus.” And that’s exactly it.

Step 4: Stay Focused and Give Yourself Grace

You’ll mess up. You’ll overspend one week. You’ll skip a workout. You’ll procrastinate on updating that resume.

That doesn’t mean you failed. It just means you’re human.

A 90-day sprint is not about perfection. It’s about progress. Reset, refocus, and keep moving. Accountability helps too...whether it’s a friend, a coach, or even sharing your goal online.

Reminded of my goal to wear my inspiration.

Your 90-Day Sprint Starts Now

So here’s your roadmap, friend:

  1. Celebrate one win you’ve already had this year

  2. Choose one focus for the next 90 days

  3. Break it into weekly and daily actions

  4. Stay consistent and give yourself grace

Imagine walking into 2026 with a win already under your belt. That’s the power of a 90-day sprint.

You don’t need January 1st to start fresh. You just need today.
