Let’s talk management! Great employee: I want to move into management. Me: That’s great, why? Great employee: *silence and blank stare* Let.me.tell.you! Management is not for the faint hearted. It takes a lot of work to get good at it and you have to want it. “Leadership is not a license to do less. Leadership is a responsibility to do more.”-Simon Sinek Here are a four reasons NOT to become a manager: 1. You want to direct-If you want to tell people what to do more than put in hard work yourself...maybe management is not for you. Again, management is not easy. You may not “do” the same things, but you’ve got to be ready to work! 2. Make more $$$-Listen...get your money! However, if making more money is the MOST attractive thing about moving into management, think twice! I would not advise seeking a management position to anyone just looking to make more money. 3. You have a lot of experience-So what! Many of us think that after a certain number of years of experience, we should be moving into management...it’s almost like an entitlement. Just because you are good at what you do and have done it for a while, does not guarantee you success in a management role. 4. Focus on yourself-Ha! Yes, as a manager (especially for the first time) it is important to build your skills in people management. But management is ALL about your team. Simon Sinek says it best, “Leadership is not about being in charge. It’s about caring for those you are in charge of.”

I would love to hear your thoughts on GREAT reasons to become a manager 👇🏾
